Advanced Techniques in Equine Fracture Management 2021
Registration is currently only open to Group 1 participants from Principles in Equine Fracture Management 2020 Online who will be attending the Principles in Equine Fracture Management Lab 2021 in La Jolla, CA, October 15, 2021.
This course focuses on principles and techniques for reconstruction of complicated fractures in the horse requiring various plating applications. Advanced Techniques in Equine Fracture Management builds upon the foundation of fracture repair taught in the Equine Basic Principles course. Faculty for both the lectures and practical labs are experts on fracture fixation and provide the most current information on techniques and management of orthopedic injuries in the equine patient.
Participants are encouraged to bring digital images of HIPAA-compliant radiographs of their problem cases for discussion. Instructions regarding the format for the images will be forwarded closer to the time of the course.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to Describe the biomechanics of fractures Manage complicated and long bone fractures in the horse Apply appropriate internal or external fixation techniques for reconstruction of complicated fractures in the horse Identify indications for corrective osteotomy Assess open and infected fractures and develop a treatment plan
