Description
The AO CMF North America Management of Facial Trauma course provides participants with evidence-based clinical approaches to treat and manage CMF fractures and congenital defects through the correction of these injuries or defects and the establishment of aesthetic outcomes.
The AO CMF faculty teaching at these courses are recognized national experts and academic-based clinicians from leading universities and hospitals in North America representing all disciplines involved within craniomaxillofacial surgery.
The Minneapolis course event includes an optional pre-course symposium. Join local faculty for a full day of didactic lectures, panel discussions, and small group discussions with opportunities to ask questions and interact directly with experts in the field of CMF.
Learning will be delivered through
- Brief didactic lectures
- Interactive, clinical case-based small group discussions
- Hands-on practical lab exercises utilizing bone models with a 5:1 participant-to-faculty ratio
- Sessions on anatomy, biomechanics, surgical approaches, and principles of internal fixation of the mandible and midface

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to Diagnose facial injury through history, physical examination, and diagnostic investigations Formulate a treatment plan (operative and non-operative) Perform the specific treatment for facial trauma Modify the treatment plan when necessary Manage patient follow-up and rehabilitation Identify and manage complications -

Surgeons-in-training in the fields of oral and maxillofacial surgery, otolaryngology, plastics and reconstruction, ophthalmology, and oculoplastics. Some practicing surgeons may also find this course beneficial.
