Advanced Techniques in the Management of Soft Tissue

Description
This course will teach common surgical approaches, soft tissue handling and reconstruction, and incision closure techniques, with an emphasis on linking lecture material and practical skills with the problems encountered by course participants in their individual practice.
Learning will be delivered through
- Lectures concentrating on core material
- Case-based small group discussions
- Practical lab sessions with human anatomical specimens

Learning objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to Describe the challenges and limitations in the management of the soft tissue envelope Discuss the current treatment options for common complications resulting from standard incisions used to access the craniofacial skeleton Identify the current state-of-the-art approaches to the craniofacial skeleton including tips and tricks to prevent and reduce post-operative complications Identify the current treatment options for managing scar contracture and soft tissue deformity of the facial complex Demonstrate the skills necessary to expose the craniofacial skeleton and perform standard soft tissue procedures -
Practicing surgeons with at least one year of experience and active fellows who deal with musculoskeletal head and neck disorders concerning trauma, reconstruction, and/or congenital and acquired deformities of the craniofacial skeleton.
