Remembering David C. Stanton, DMD, MD, FACS

Long-time AO CMF member and faculty passes

19 November 2020

David C. Stanton, DMD, MD, FACS, a long-time AO North America faculty member, passed away on November 13, 2020. He was a graduate of both the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and School of Dental Medicine. He went on to teach at the university as an Associate Professor and Clinician Educator of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Dr. Stanton attended his very first AO CMF North America course in 1994 and became a faculty member in 2001. He chaired and co-chaired several AO CMF NA courses and lectured at more than twenty courses.

Dr. Stephen MacLeod remembers him for his dry sense of humor and devotion to his family, who often attended events with him. Dr. George Kushner shares, "he was a beloved friend, colleague, and career educator who made countless contributions to the specialty of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He educated a generation of dental students and dental residents at the University of Pennsylvania. David always brought his family to events whenever possible. His colleagues saw the joy of a dedicated and proud family man."

The AO North America family extends sympathies and condolences to Dr. Stanton’s family. He is survived by his wife, Linda; daughter, Kelsey; and his mother, Doris. They request privacy during this difficult time.
