01 October 2020

The AO CMF NA Board had a vision to create a new resource for the CMF membership by providing grant support to deserving post-graduate fellowship programs. The open and broad call was announced earlier this year for applications in the field of craniomaxillofacial surgical fellowships. A standardized evaluation process was designed to holistically vet the applications and 20 outstanding fellowship programs within the United States and Canada were awarded grant funding in the amount of $20,000 for the 2020/21 academic year to support the fellowship activities at those sites.

Selected programs acknowledge the support by providing consistent and periodic reporting of the fellow’s performance during the period of training to verify that he/she has demonstrated sufficient professional ability to practice competently and independently. Additionally, the fellows at the selected sites must meet educational and academic requirements such as attending an AO basic and advanced course as well as submit an article to Craniomaxillofacial Trauma and Reconstruction (CMTR), the journal of AO CMF, during their fellowship year.
